Thalys chooses Munckhof

Munckhof has won the contract to provide the rail replacement transport for Thalys. The contract is for unscheduled transport on the Brussels-Liège-Cologne route, with Munckhof providing replacement bus services if the trains are unable to run.

Extensive experience

Munckhof has many years of experience in coordinating and providing rail replacement transport. Jos Poortinga, director of Munckhof, explains: ‘For many years we’ve been Dutch Railways’ partner in rail replacement transport. We’ve set up a dedicated department to organize this transport. The department is called in whenever replacement transport is required. It immediately deploys coaches to take over the transport and coordinates the whole process.’

Positive experience

‘Thalys chose Munckhof on the basis of Dutch Railways’ positive experiences with our services. Naturally we’re delighted that our customers are recommending us and that we now have the opportunity to offer the same service and quality for Thalys,’ says Poortinga. Munckhof will coordinate the transport operations from its management centre in Horst. The transport services are operated in cooperation with local transport partners in the Netherlands and abroad.
