Avans University of Applied Sciences, which has branches in Breda, 's-Hertogenbosch and Tilburg, has chosen Munckhof as its travel partner. Munckhof will book, supervise and arrange all travel on behalf of the university. This includes arranging group travel by coach and plane, coordinating taxi transport, reserving train tickets and booking individual trips for students and teachers. The commission was valued at 2.8 million euros per year.

Unique portal

Munckhof will use a unique portal created specifically for Avans to carry out this assignment. 'Munckhof will play an overarching, coordinating role for Avans with regard to travel coordination,' explains Munckhof CEO Tom Roefs. 'We will use the portal to coordinate the university's travel needs, after which the Munckhof team will start processing the information. This is an ideal solution for Avans, as it gives them a single travel platform to work in and a single report to check. This is also beneficial for Munckhof as we can coordinate all of our services using one system. This includes taxis, tour buses, airline tickets, incentives, events, meetings and study trips.'

Advisory role

An important challenge Avans asked candidates to consider in the tender process was the ability to report on all travel movements. 'At Avans, everything was organized locally, making it very difficult to establish a consistent travel policy with sufficient insight into the 1,200 journeys made each year. Munckhof will play an advisory role in this by drafting a clear travel policy and making clear agreements about the duty of care. This paired with the one-stop point of contact will lead to cost savings and greater purchasing power for Avans,' says Roefs.
