Munckhof invests in digital innovation and customer focus

Munckhof is rapidly digitizing its services, using OutSystems as a powerful low-code platform. Thanks to this technology, Munckhof can quickly and flexibly develop customized solutions that perfectly match the needs of clients and travelers. Phact plays a key role in this as a strategic partner, actively contributing ideas about technological choices and development direction from the outset.

Phact as a strategic extension

The collaboration with Phact arose from a clear need for reinforcement. “We were increasingly receiving specific digital requirements in tenders,” says Daniël Gloudemans, Senior Manager Competence at Munckhof. “That forces you to make a choice: become an IT company yourself, or look for an extension of your IT department. In Phact, we found exactly that partner.”

Peter Hendrix, Managing Director of Phact, emphasizes the joint process: “We don't just build what the customer asks for. We listen, analyze, and develop future-proof solutions together.” Based on this approach, Phact recommended using the low-code platform OutSystems.

Booking tool makes the difference in important tender

Munckhof immediately deployed OutSystems in an important tender for a large national government agency. Gloudemans: “I called Peter and told him about the challenge we were facing. Peter didn't take long to respond and said: this is a huge challenge, but we're going for it.” Within a short period of time, Munckhof and Phact developed a branded and clickable demo app, which they used to convincingly demonstrate their innovative strength.

This approach worked. Munckhof won the tender, partly thanks to the online booking tool. The client later said: "Munckhof promised that anyone could book a ride in five steps, even new employees. And they delivered on that promise. New colleagues don't need any explanation; the system does the thinking for you. That's essential. What sets Munckhof apart is that they can move with us, depending on our needs. And that they understand the practicalities."

AVA Portal: from fragmentation to overview

Following this success, Munckhof expanded its use of OutSystems. One of the most important applications is AVA Portal: a central customer portal for Corporate Travel, the part of Munckhof that arranges business travel for clients. “We used to work with all kinds of separate systems,” says Gloudemans. “With AVA Portal, we bring everything together. Thanks to OutSystems, we can easily connect to customer environments via APIs and build on what really adds value.”

In addition, various generic mobility apps and customer-specific applications now run on OutSystems, including solutions for various clients within target group transport, such as WMO and student transport. This underlines the flexibility and scalability of the platform within Munckhof's services.

Munckhof is building a digital culture

Munckhof is also strengthening its internal digital capabilities. “We invest in our own developers and now have an active OutSystems community within our organization,” says Gloudemans. “This allows us to respond more quickly and stay in line with what customers want from us.” Phact remains a valuable sparring partner. “When we get stuck on something, Phact not only jumps in to help, but also thinks strategically with us. That makes our collaboration sustainable and powerful.”

Looking ahead: digitization with impact

Munckhof is looking ahead and remains committed to digital maturity. In the coming years, the organization will focus on real-time communication and insights for travelers and clients.
