History

Munckhof was founded in Horst in 1927 by Hein van den Munckhof. Munckhof started out transporting people between various villages in North Limburg with a 14-seater bus, and in more than 90 years has grown into one of the largest passenger transport companies and business travel organizations in the Netherlands. Munckhof's head office is still located in Horst.

  • 1927: Munckhof is founded by Hein van den Munckhof.
  • 1932: Munckhof starts bus services on routes in Horst, Venray, and Helmond.
  • 1942: Due to the war and pressure, the bus services are discontinued.
  • 1945: Munckhof is restarted by Hein van den Munckhof.
  • 1953: Munckhof starts offering day trips to tourist destinations in the Netherlands and abroad.
  • 1964: Munckhof starts collaborating with travel organization De Magneet.
  • 1971: Munckhof and twelve other transport companies establish SATO, which specializes in transporting military personnel.
  • 1974: Munckhof and seven other companies establish the Magneet Coach Group. Later, they organize all transport for Holland International.
  • 1992: Munckhof Business Travel Venlo, specialising in business travel, is launched.
  • 1993: Munckhof Taxi is founded following a transport agreement between Munckhof and healthcare institution De Wendel.
  • 1995: Munckhof expands through the acquisitions of Taxi Bovee, Taxi Hoba and the Deurne-based coach company Van Goch.
  • 1995: Munckhof joins the Hermes Group.
  • 1996: Munckhof acquires coach company EHAD in Helmond.
  • 1997: Munckhof launches Munckhof Reizen Nijmegen after acquiring Havi Travel in Nijmegen.
  • 1997: The new head office on Handelstraat in Horst is put into use.
  • 1998: Launch and establishment of Munckhof Business Travel Amsterdam.
  • 2000: Munckhof leaves the Hermes Group.
  • 2000: Van Ham Reizen, Duma Reizen, and Pedi Taxi join the Munckhof Group.
  • 2001: The Rabobank Maashorst travel agency is acquired and continues under the name Munckhof Reiswereld.
  • 2002: Maasbuurt Taxi joins the Munckhof Group.
  • 2003: Munckhof acquires a stake in Quipment (supplier of data communication systems for the taxi industry).
  • 2003: The travel agencies of Rabobank Panningen and Bergen are acquired and continue under the name Munckhof Reiswereld.
  • 2004: Munckhof acquires Travel24.com. The name is changed to Munckhof Business Travel.
  • 2004: Launch and establishment of Munckhof Business Travel Schiphol.
  • 2004: Taxi van den Tillaart in Boekel is acquired by Munckhof and becomes part of Maasbuurt Taxi in Heijen.
  • 2004: Munckhof Groups & Incentives (MGI Travel) is founded in Rotterdam.
  • 2004: Munckhof Regie, the control center for group transport, is launched.
  • 2006: Acquisition of Taxi Peeten in Baarlo.
  • 2006: Founding of Munckhof Polska (coach transport) in Poznan.
  • 2006: Acquisition of Uniglobe Venlo by Munckhof Business Travel Venlo.
  • 2006: Launch and establishment of Munckhof China in Beijing.
  • 2007: Acquisition of Taxi Westermann in Duiven and Taxi Leudal in Beegden. These companies continue under the respective names Munckhof Taxi Arnhem and Munckhof Taxi Roermond.
  • 2007: Acquisition of and collaboration with VVV Horst aan de Maas in the Horst Tourist Information Center.
  • 2008: Launch and establishment of Munckhof China NetworX in Venlo.
  • 2009: Munckhof Business Travel opens a branch in Nijmegen and takes over the business travel activities of VakantieXperts de Planeet.
  • 2009: Launch of DDMA China Ltd. in Beijing.
  • 2009: Munckhof sells its stake in Quipment.
  • 2009: Establishment of Munckhof Taxi Nijmegen.
  • 2010: Acquisition of the business travel activities of DB Travel Consultancy Den Bosch.
  • 2011: Acquisition of VakantieXperts Panningen. Munckhof's two separate travel agencies continue under the name VakantieXperts Munckhof.
  • 2013: Munckhof acquires Oad Business Travel. These branches, spread throughout the Netherlands, continue under the name Munckhof Business Travel.
  • 2014: Munckhof acquires Verstraaten Personenvervoer BV from Venray.
  • 2014: Establishment of Munckhof Taxi Ridderkerk.
  • 2015: Munckhof sells its stake in VakantieXperts Munckhof. The travel agencies continue under the name VakantieXperts Horst/Panningen.
  • 2016: Munckhof acquires ETS Taxi & Zorgvervoer in Zaandam.
  • 2016: Munckhof acquires business travel agency Roberts & Partners in Amsterdam.
  • 2017: Munckhof launches taxi branch in Tilburg.
  • 2017: Munckhof Business Travel Venlo establishes itself in the Innovatoren (Venlo).
  • 2019: Munckhof enters into strategic alliance with Reed & Mackay.
  • 2022: Munckhof Business Travel Delfzijl relocates to Groningen.
  • 2022: Munckhof Business Travel Helmond relocates to new premises near the Automotive Campus.
  • 2022: Munckhof Business Travel Schiphol moves to new premises near Schiphol Airport.
  • 2022: Hansea acquires Munckhof.
  • 2025: Munckhof acquires BAB-Vios Touringcars from Wateringen
