The Blinden-Penning Foundation

It is essential for the blind and visually impaired to be provided with the same vehicle every day with as many permanent drivers as possible and we are very satisfied with our collaboration with Munckhof for their understanding and support of this.

The Blinden-Penning Foundation is an activity centre in Amsterdam for blind and visually impaired adults. Clients come to the centre for various activities such as: cooking, baking, gymnastics, crafts, dance and yoga. After all, it is not always easy for the blind and visually impaired to carry out activities such as these independently. The Blinden-Penning Foundation organizes activities and ensures that the clients receive the support they need.

Short lines of communication and an effective online tool

Munckhof is the Blinden-Penning Foundation's preferred transportation partner. Irma Schwalbach, director of the Blinden-Penning Foundation, explains the collaboration with Munckhof: 'Due to our clients’ visual impairments, they are often not able to travel independently. Reliable transportation is therefore essential for us. We chose Munckhof, because we heard that they are currently working together with various care institutions in Amsterdam and also because they have a branch in the area. I am very satisfied about how the collaboration is going. There are short lines of communication, it is quick, effective and efficient and the Mobility Manager online tool works well. In the past we have never worked with a tool for client registrations and cancellations, but this works really well!'

The importance of permanent drivers and the same vehicle every day

Extra attention is given to the target group when providing transportation. 'It is important that all transportation provided be the same, using the same wheelchair bus each time. You should just try to get into a taxi with your eyes closed; it's really difficult. Now imagine how this would be if you had a different vehicle every day. This makes it even more of a hassle and requires extra time on each occasion. A blind or visually impaired person has to explore a new area step by step. By providing the same vehicle and the same driver each day we build trust in our clients. They know where the seats are, how the grips and support bars are positioned and if they can stand up straight in the vehicle. That saves a lot of time and effort, so this is really important to us. Munckhof listened closely to our tips and recommendations and the customer service team took these on board and immediately implemented them in the plans and fed the information through to the drivers. Irma Schwalbach from the Blinden-Penning Foundation happily concludes, 'The communication with Munckhof is great and we are very satisfied with our collaboration!'
