Munckhof wins final day of the DriveTag Challenge
On Thursday, May 15, the final day of the DriveTag Challenge, organized by technology partner Sycada, took place in Lelystad. In this challenge, drivers are challenged to drive as safely, cleanly, and efficiently as possible over a period of six weeks. Bianca Camps and Henk Sengerski, both mentors at Munckhof Taxi Horst, participated in this final day on behalf of Munckhof – with great success: Munckhof finished in first place.
Participation in the final was a follow-up to the success of driver Ronald van Berghe, who emerged as the winner in the first heat of the challenge last year. Due to being unable to attend the final day, he handed over the honor to his colleagues Bianca and Henk, who competed against seven other companies.
The final day consisted of a theoretical part and a practical driving skills training session. During this training, various traffic situations were simulated, including a cornering skid and a rear wheel skid. The goal: to raise awareness about safe driving behavior and the risks of distraction behind the wheel. The training emphasized the importance of full concentration, correct steering technique, and anticipatory driving behavior—essential elements for every professional driver.
“The training was educational and challenging,” says Bianca Camps. “It was valuable to experience in a controlled environment how crucial alertness and, for example, keeping both hands on the wheel are in unexpected situations.”
At the end of the day, the award ceremony took place. Munckhof was declared the winner of the day, followed by AON and BMW in second and third place. Henk Sengerski in particular was praised for his quick and correct response during a complex rear wheel skid.
A proud achievement that fits seamlessly with Munckhof's vision on safety and sustainability. Edwin Besseling, Senior Manager Asset Management at Munckhof, explains: "As an organization, we believe it is important to actively contribute to road safety and environmentally friendly driving behavior. The DriveTag Challenge offers our drivers insights and tools to grow in this area in an accessible and motivating way."
The positive experiences of the participants and the results achieved confirm the value of initiatives such as the DriveTag Challenge. Munckhof therefore continues to actively invest in innovation and education to continuously improve the driving behavior of its drivers.
