Munckhof and Hansea join forces

Munckhof is joining forces with Hansea, the Belgian specialist in people mobility. With their 3,000 experts in national and international passenger transport, the two companies aim to become the strongest mobility network in the Benelux. Investments in sustainability, quality of service, and innovation will be central to this.

A passion for people and mobility. That is the connecting factor between the two companies. While Munckhof uses the motto ‘People make Munckhof’, Hansea talks about ‘People in e-motion’. Together, Munckhof and Hansea provide mobility for more than 47 million people every year from 50 locations in the Benelux. They complement each other perfectly in their services. While Munckhof is a household name in the Netherlands for everything related to taxis, buses, planes, and trains, Hansea is a leader in Belgium in all forms of bus transport, such as public transport, school transport, staff transport, and tour bus services. In this new partnership, the two companies will share their knowledge and experience in the field of passenger transport and international business travel.

Investing together in the mobility of tomorrow

By joining forces, Munckhof and Hansea will be able to respond even better to the changing market. A market that demands sustainable investments in all forms of (international) passenger transport. Individually, Munckhof and Hansea are relevant players in the Netherlands and Belgium respectively. Together, they form the strongest network of mobility experts in the Benelux.

Hansea acquires 100% of the shares in Munckhof Groep BV. Hansea is a portfolio company of DWS Infrastructure, a European investment fund focused on long-term investments and sustainability. The current shareholders Tom Roefs, Jos Poortinga, and Patrick Straetemans will become co-shareholders in Hansea and will also continue to form the management of Munckhof. The transaction is still subject to approval by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM).

The future

In the future, the new mobility network will be able to offer even better, sustainable, and innovative services thanks to synergy, scale, and investment power. The services and activities that customers and employees are familiar with will remain unchanged. Tom Roefs (CEO Munckhof): "We are very proud that, together with Hansea, we will form one of the largest organizations in the field of people mobility in the Benelux. Our ambition to grow, become more sustainable, and invest even more in quality and innovation can be achieved more quickly through this collaboration. Intensive knowledge sharing and scale are important prerequisites for this. We see great opportunities for our taxi, tour, and travel activities." Joris Larosse (CEO Hansea): “We warmly welcome our colleagues from Munckhof to Hansea. Their experience in taxi, tour, and travel services enriches our range of mobility solutions. I look forward to the mix of passion, dedication, and expertise of our 3,000 professionals in the Benelux network. A network in which people and mobility are always central.”
