Munckhof Acquires BAB-VIOS Touringcars and Hofstad Tours
As of March 31, 2025, Munckhof Group will take over all activities of coach companies BAB-VIOS and Hofstad Tours.
BAB-VIOS was founded in 1922 as VIOS (Vooruitgang Is Ons Streven – “Progress Is Our Aim”) and, as a family business, has acquired various companies over the years, including BAB (Buitelaars Automobiel Bedrijf). Since 2022, the company has held the Royal Warrant designation. Hofstad Tours caters to the higher-end segment, offering extra style, luxury, and comfort. Both companies are based in Wateringen, South Holland.
Strong position in the region
Arjan Wiering, Managing Director at Munckhof, is delighted about the acquisition:
“We are incredibly proud to welcome these wonderful companies and their employees.”
Munckhof is well-known in the region for multiple transport contracts, and with this acquisition, it strengthens its position in the Randstad and the dynamic coach market.
“With this takeover, we not only reinforce our position in the region but also expand our national coverage as a high-quality and sustainable transport provider.”
Personal service, loyalty, quality, and sustainability
Former owner Michel Kortekaas had no successor for his company and worked hard to ensure the continuity of his businesses, job security for his staff, and service for his clients. Munckhof, BAB-VIOS, and Hofstad Tours share the same core values: personal service, loyalty, quality, and sustainability. This alignment explains why Kortekaas immediately found common ground with Munckhof. On the acquisition, Kortekaas says: “My feeling is that we have created a wonderful combination of companies, allowing us to maintain our exceptional position and status in our city. I therefore look forward with great enthusiasm to a challenging and exciting future.”
Building a great company together
Wiering fully agrees: “BAB-VIOS Touringcars and Hofstad Tours are outstanding companies with an excellent reputation in The Hague region and beyond. Our first priority is to make sure our new colleagues feel at home within our organization. Then we will start harmonizing work processes. Ultimately, our goal is to further expand activities in the The Hague region. We are grateful to Kortekaas for staying on board in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition, and we look forward to working together.”
